Greetings of the season..

greetings of the season to everybody. i'm back from a wonderful break and realise that thanks to various choices made at different times, am still home when others get back to work after the school vacations (office-goers would have been at work from last week!). so basically, i got a break from one long break. hate the feeling of having nothing more important to do tomorrow than get lunch prepared(which takes me all of 15 minutes) and be there when my son comes home! not that it's not important but there is so much more one could be doing. comments please...

Bingo Meetings

this is a refreshing article for all of us who are at home for various reasons, regretting the excitement of a working person's life (working as in an office)- a lot of us women work a lot out of the home but somehow that never seems to count.

************

Do you keep falling asleep in meetings & seminars?

What about those long & boring conference calls?

Here's a way to change all that:

1. Before (or during) your next meeting, seminar, or conference call, prepare for the meeting by drawing a square -- 5"X5" is a good size.

2. Divide the square into columns -- five across and five down. That will give you 25 one-inch blocks.

3. In each block, write one of the following words/phrases:

synergy, strategic fit, core competencies, best practice bottom line, revisit, take that off-line, 24/7, out of the loop, benchmark, value added, proactive, win-win, think outside the box, fast track, result-driven, empower(ment), knowledge base,

4. At the end of the day, touch base, mindset, client focus(ed), ballpark, game plan, leverage,

Whenever you hear any one of those words/phrases, check off the appropriate block.

5. When you get five blocks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, stand up and shout

BULLSHIT!"

Testimonials from satisfied "Bullshit Bingo" players:

"I had been in the meeting for only five minutes whenI won." --

"My attention span at meetings has improved drastically."

"What a gas! Meetings will never be the same for me

after my first win."

"The atmosphere was tense in our last process meeting

as 14 of us waited for the fifth box."

"The speaker was stunned as eight of us screamed

BULLSHIT! for the third time in two hours." --

here i go again..

hi! am so inspired by the four friends who have responded very enthusiastically and asked me to keep blogging, that i'm at it again!! thanks, friends.

something to discuss..

kanishk is on this trip of finding out whether people like their lives and their occupations - so i've been answering questions about whether the beggar at the car window likes what he's doing, or the traffic cop or the waiter at pizza hut. he also wanted to know if i liked making dinner for him (the maid was unwell hence it was my job for the day) - i was bemused and asked him what alternatives i had at that moment. he thought a bit and came up with - 'mmm, maybe you could force me to cook!' i couldn't stop laughing as i refused his offer but now am thinking - what kind of power do i wield over my poor little son? does he really think grown-ups (specifically moms) would do that to their children? or was it just a rhetorical question that i am now reading too much into? comments please.

p.s - i could really enjoy this - i can say what i want with no interruptions :-)
